Maudrie Walton Elementary School is a 750 student target capacity program serving grades PreK-5th. The project will include:
Site improvements: The site is divided to provide individual secure areas, playgrounds and outdoor learning spaces for the students based on developmental levels. Additional green space to be provided for a multi-purpose playfield. Existing portable classrooms will also be removed from the site.
Renovations/Queuing: The main entrance is relocated from Rickenbacker street on the north to Ramey Street on the south. This relocation will reduce parent queuing impact on the neighborhood and provide greater safety for the students.
Exterior Preservation: The existing campus has historical connection to the neighborhood so the original structure needs to be maintained.
New Additions: Later additions may be demolished to make way for the new additions, creating a new cohesive state-of-the-art elementary campus for the next generation of students.
The new Maudrie Walton Elementary School is on schedule to begin construction during Q1 of 2025. The project will include the construction of new classrooms, science & collaboration areas, a new media center & performance arts area, new cafeteria & kitchen, and new administration spaces.
