The Forest Oak Middle School project will prioritize the following improvements:
Security and Life Safety: Includes secured entry vestibule construction, threat resistant entry doors, fire safety provisions
such as, exiting, fire suppression system, fire rated renovation, fire alarm, horn strobes, and
accessibility throughout the existing building, the media center and the stand-alone gymnasium.
Building Envelope: Roof replacement and all associated work, full window and exterior door replacement of existing
buildings to remain, as well as masonry tuckpointing.
Learning Environment: Full interior finish renovation and right sizing of existing classrooms, labs, and existing
corridors. Spaces not in scope for full interior finish renovation: cafeteria, kitchen, auditorium,
gymnasium, and locker rooms.
Systems and Components: Lifecycle Upgrades– Partial HVAC replacement of existing rooftop units older than 10 years old
per the TDG’s, Electrical and Plumbing upgrades, and new PA system for the existing building.
Capacity: Includes partial demolition of the 1956 addition and the temporary locker rooms; new Classroom
& Lab Addition, fine arts, dining and media expansions.
*A temporary classroom village was installed the Summer of 2024 to accommodate Forest Oak’s enrollment increase- due to closure of Glencrest School. The portable village will be removed upon completion of Middle School project.
Construction for the Forest Oak Middle School project began in Q4 2024, and started with the completion of a portable village built by contractor FH Paschen. 14 portable units are being relocated onto Forest Oak’s Middle School Campus to house 6th Graders that are relocating from Glencrest campus. The portable scope includes utilities, MEP, and security & safety.
